                                      Sovanjan : (Moringa oleifera)

Ethanol extract of Moringa oleifera (Lam.) showed anti bacterial activity against Shigella dysentari, Staphylococcus aureus and produced zone of inhibition of 13 mm. Ethanol extract also showed moderate anti fungal activity against candida albicans and aspergillus flavus.

-Pakistan Journal of Biological Science Vol-6,22,2003

Pterygospermin in concentration of 5.3 μ gm/cc inhibits the growth of many Gram+ve  and Gram-ve bacteria, including pyogenes.

-Rao.et al Nature, 1946,158

Mithanolic extract of M.oleifera showed maximum zone of inhibition against S.aureus(23.6 + 1.15 mm.).

-International Journal of Pharmaceutical Science Review & Research Vol-12, Issue -1, Jan-Feb 2012,Article-014.

Moringa oleifera is commonly known as horsera dish tree or drumstick, used as phytomedicine such as antioxident, antimicrobial, anti inflammatory, anti pyretic, anti diabetic, antifertility, antiulcer and antitumor agent. Moringa oleifera (Lam.) root was successfully extracted with petroleum ether, ethyl acetate, chloroform, ethanol and aqueous extract were tested for antimicrobial activities against Escherichia coli, Staphylo coccus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus mirabilis, Penicillium sp., Mucor sp. , Aspergillus niger and candida albicans by disc diffusion method. Ethyl acetate extract showed highly anti bacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa (18.2 + 0.2 mm.). Chloroform extract were ineffective against Escherichia coli and Proteus mirabilis.

Aqueous extract showed maximum number of inhibition against Penicillium sp. (13.1+ 0.2mm) than other extracts and Aspergillus niger was ineffective in all the extracts expect aqueous extract. The phytochemical screening revealed the presence of alkaloids, tannins, cardioglycosides, amino acids and protein.

Garlic:  (Allium sativum)

Garlic extract showed antibacterial activity inhibiting the growth of E. coli, Salmonella typhosa, Shigella dysenteriae and M. Pyogenus. The antibacterial activity shown to be due to the presence of allicin. It is therefore, widely used both in intestinal disorder and in number of infectious diseases.

-Food science 1958,7,223 ; Sreenivasa Murthy et al J.Sci,Indian Research, 1960.

Mettalic complexes of allicin are to be active against gram+ve and gram –ve bacteria and also against some fungi. Garlic is also used in the treatment of lead poisoning.

Garlic fights & disables wide variety of infections including Amoeba of dysentery by blocking two groups of enzymes- cysteine protinase (which helps to invade & damage the host tissue) and Alcohol dehydrogenase (plays a major role in harmful organism metabolism & its survival by reacting with sulpherdryl group of thiol).

Amloki -  Emblica  officinalis

Amloki has been added to Nutri Bactrin Capsule to keep the pH in acidic as Moringa pterygosperma is more active as an anti microbial in acidic pH. Amloki fruits is probable richest source of natural vitamin-C.

Emblica officinalis (Amla) is a good source of vitamin C has been shown to be beneficial due to its immune system enhancing property coupled with tonifying and antiageing effect. The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of E. officinalis feeding on the susceptibility of experimental mice to respiratory tract infection induced by klebsiella pneumonie.

Growth of K. pneumonia in nutrient broth alone and in presence of amla powder was recorded. Decline in growth was observed when nutrient broth was supplemented with amla powder suspension (5% w/v). The broth became sterile after 8 hr. of steady decrease in bacterial numbers showing bactericidal effect of amla powder on K. pneumonia.
